Frequently Asked Questions

Pre-engineered buildings are steel structures built using a structural steel framing system specifically engineered to fit your project requirements. All of the components of the structure are fabricated off-site under precise factory conditions and come ready to assemble. Parts are pre-cut, pre-punched, and prefabricated to fit the client’s specifications. Pre-engineered steel buildings can be complemented with different structural additions like trusses, mezzanine floors, fascias, canopies, and crane systems as per user requirements.

Each building kit comes with all the accessories necessary to erect your building, including:
- Primary structural steel – PBS always uses heavy steel I-Beams because it is easier to erect, and it provides a strong, safe, stable structure. We also provide a heavy coat of enamel paint on the primary structural steel, not just a thin coat of dark primer like most manufacturers.
- Secondary framing – All our secondary framing is galvanized, both for longer life span and much better light reflection.
- Metal siding
- Metal roofing
- Insulation – Insulation can be added to regulate the temperature inside your metal building.
- Bolts and screws
- Building permit drawings
- Foundation design plans *Optional

Yes, we encourage our customers to send us the drawings and specs of a project so we can estimate your building as intended by you or the architect. With all the experience in this business that we bring to the table, we are often able to guide our customers toward a more efficient approach that can provide the same function at a lower overall cost. Our estimating department will always give advice or alternates to make the building more efficient to lower cost, sometimes with only minor changes.

Our design and fabrication methods help erectors install our buildings faster than other brands, minimizing field labor expenses, and saving our clients both time and money. We prefabricate to the most significant extent possible because it is more efficient to do the work in the controlled environment of a shop than out in the field. Building erection time depends on the following variables: building size, complexity, equipment, crew size, and experience.

Since 1962, our customer service representatives have worked with our estimating team and engineers to design long-lasting, custom, steel garages and workshop metal buildings for our customers. Our structures feature heavy frames and are cost-effective for most applications, including agricultural, commercial & industrial, retail industries, and some residential applications that require customization. Small residential buildings that do not require a heavy gauge structure can be less economical than conventional construction.
-
We offer a 40-year color-fading warranty on roofing and siding. For an additional charge, customers can purchase weather-tightness warranty, or a structural warranty.

Clearspan is the most popular steel building frame. It requires no interior supports. The design is an excellent choice for maximizing the uninterrupted interior space floor. It is a popular choice for industries that use large machinery, or airplane hangars, athletic facilities, agricultural buildings, and just about any type of storage with expansive interior space. Clearspan frames can be cost-effective for buildings as wide as 200” feet.
Our PBS building can be designed and customized to fit your needs.
