When it comes to protection from natural elements like flooding and fire, metal buildings meet the highest standards. Steel is widely recognized as one of the safest options for construction, in part due to its natural strength and fire resistant nature.
Steel frame buildings are the most popular building method due largely to their durability and unmatched strength to weight ratio. Steel has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any commonly-used material, which makes it exceptionally durable. Because of its enormous strength, steel can handle more weight on load-bearing walls.

Here’s a story from one of our customers, Brandon Crawford of Lyons, Oregon, that demonstrates this point.
Brandon purchased a 50’ x 60’ steel building shop for his property in March of 2020. Unfortunately, a devastating forest fire hit the Detroit Lake area just months after the metal building was constructed, and did significant damage to Brandon’s property.
Thankfully, the fire hurt no one, but as you can see in the pictures below, there is an empty space where a wood building once stood, while the green metal building on the right remained intact.
