Yolanda joined the Pacific Building Systems team on June 13th, 2022. She’s only been with us a short time but her experience in the contracting industry allows her to fit right in. She has years worth of experience in that area which contributes to her skillset that she uses here at PBS.
We got to chat a little bit with Yolanda about her life in and out of work. Here’s what she said.
What Have You Learned Since Being with Pacific Building Systems?
Since being hired at Pacific Building Systems back in June of 2022, Yolanda has already expanded her knowledge in the pre-engineered metal building industry. She had several years of experience working in the construction and contracting industry prior to her work with PBS, and the combination of work experiences has led her to be a key player in our business.
Yolanda has worked in the construction industry for over 15 years, primarily as an architectural sign maker. This job included the conceptualization and creation of some pretty incredible works of art. The skills she learned through that work allowed her to fit right into the pre engineered metal building industry. Yolanda has learned to expertly apply her experience from her prior work in contracting to her role here at PBS.
“Contractors are my people.” Yolanda says. She understands what challenges commonly arise with contractors and building projects and she knows how to solve them. Having a finger on the pulse of this industry makes Yolanda a vital asset for us. With each client she assists, she learns a little bit more about how to best help with their component needs.
What is Your Role Within Pacific Building Systems?
Yolanda serves all of Oregon in her role as Component Sales Person. In her day-to-day here at PBS, Yolanda can be found helping clients navigate their pre engineered building path and helping them obtain the correct components they’ll need for their project. Yolanda commented, “I really enjoy working on helping people bring their projects to fruition.”
Whether one of our clients is constructing a pre-engineered metal building from scratch or is just replacing or modifying a few components, Yolanda will know just what they need! When asked how her skillset played into her role here at Pacific Building Systems, she remarked about having worked in the contracting and construction space before and that, “This gave me an array of skills that included sales, design, bidding, preparing submittals, manufacturing, installing, and working with contractors on large commercial buildings.” We’re glad to have her aboard to help our clients in their pre-engineered metal building projects!
How Do You Spend Your Time Outside of Work?
When Yolanda isn’t at work, she’s still working-just in a different way! She’s got a pretty cool project she’s been chipping away at that lets her flex her skills as an Architectural Sign Creator. Yolanda owned her own Architectural Signage Company for over 10 years! She gained quite an impressive skillset from her time with that company.
When asked more about her project, she stated that, “I moved to the Salem area in 2019 and have spent the last 3 years working on a ‘fixer’ where I get to utilize my carpentry skills gained from my sign business.” We can’t wait to see the finished reveal of her “fixer-upper!” We’re sure it’ll turn out great. Yolanda has a keen eye for design and the ability to follow through on tasks; both of which are skills that are sure to help her in her project and that we appreciate here at Pacific Building Systems!
